Parish Groups and Activites
PARISH GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES  

During the COVID pandemic many of these activities have had to be suspended or curtailed. We hope to restart most of them once it is safe to do so. 


Altar Servers,Sacristans,Readers and Collectors assist with liturgical services. 
St Vincent de Paul Society meet regularly.
Choir sing at 11.30 am Mass every Sunday.
Little Church (Children's Liturgy) during 11.30 am Mass each Sunday during school terms.
Music Group play at Saturday Mass from time to time and on special occasions e.g. Easter Vigil and Confirmation Services.
Church Cleaning Team usually meet every other Thursday morning 9.30am.
Church flower team meet weekly.
Finance The parish operates a planned giving system and welcomes Gift Aid participation. 
Parish Forum meets several times a year.
Parish Secretary deals with baptism certificates, notes of freedom to marry etc.
Child Protection and Safeguarding in accordance with Diocesan guidelines.
Restoration Fund regular collections and fund raising events are held through the year.
Parish Hospitality Tea and coffee after Sunday Mass-money raised for Bonga Mission Ethiopia.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist help in taking Holy Communion to the sick on Sundays after Mass and on Wednesdays.
FUNDS are raised for CAFOD, the Association for the Propagation of the Faith, Sacred Heart Mission Embakwe, Archdiocese of Bulawayo, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic seminaries and  a number of other special collections through the year.
Ecumenical Matters representatives of the Parish attend Adlington Churches Togather.
The Parish Centre 'Upper Room'can be hired at very reasonable cost for birthday parties, music practices, neighbourhood watch, meetings, social 
functions etc.
Cubs meet Mondays at 6.30 pm in the Upper Room.
Brownies meet Wednesdays 6.30 pm in the Upper Room.
Beavers meet at 6.30 pm on Thursdays in the Upper Room.
Scouts meet Fridays at 7.30 pm in the Upper Room.

St Joseph's Bowling Club is based at the crown green to the rear of the church.
membership by modest subscription. Call at the bowling hut in the season for information.
Repository in Church, open at weekends after Mass, which has supplies of prayer books, bibles, leaflets, statues, rosaries etc. It also has videos and tape cassettes for loan.
Some notable moments:
On 18th February 2001 the Most Rev. Patrick Kelly Archbishop of Liverpool consecrated the new altar and the church. First class relics of St John Southworth and St Francis of Assisi were placed beneath the altar, with third class relics of St Edmund Arrowsmith. St Martin de Porres and St Anthony of Padua.
On 20th March 2001, Chorley Civic Society awarded the Parish a Commendation 2000 for the new church access ramp for the disabled and the improvement works on the bowling green.
Work for the resurfacing of the car park was completed on Fri 31st October 2003. The church drive has been resurfaced more recently and improved with designated pedestrian areas and safety railings.
